My site visit to Gurgaon faced Incredible India.
I watched a man lying on mad.
See this picture, he must be die, nobody cared for him.
Nobody watched to him.
I was worried about him; a Indian said he drunk and slept last night.
City was in big rain at night.
And it was at 1pm, lunch time.
He did not move in the least.
He was dying on the road in Gurgaon, dazzling satellite city of Delhi.
The gap between rich and poor widens in the satellite city.
He did not ask anything to anyone else.
He could not help drinking, and has gone to heaven.
He was a man having a loftiness of soul.
I pray for the good of his happiness.
He visited to India, Syria and Iran on business for six years, and established friendly relationship with local artist. At that time, he made water color painting and Japanese calligraphy on paper, and he was aware of his identification and common concept hidden under his Japanese mind, it was fragility of universe. He called his concept as “Fragile Art”, originally he worked on the series of fragile love, fragile human life, and so on.

IMAGE OF FIRST LOVE
Title: Image of First Love; from Poet Akiko Yosano
Painter Toshiaki Ruike based on the concept as “Fragile Art”
I like to make a story like bellow;
The boy who experienced bitter first love became grown-up. He started painting on the wall of the bathroom, wrote poems of love.
Here is a piece of work which he cited from a love poem written by a Japanese poet Akiko Yosano.
The original poem is also written on the wall.
I do not speak of the way
I do not speak of the future
I do not inquire of my name
Here I love I love
We stare at each other
You and I
(from MIDAREGAMI)
The boy must have seen an ideal love in the poem.

This is a work of NPB, New Painting in Bathroom, drawn on the bathroom tiled wall of hotel in Iran by oil pastel and pasted newspaper and applied by Water color and Japanese white, green ink and red. After drawing it was erased soon, so there is no original drawing, that’s why this is “Fragile Art”
It was printed out in negative.

MY FRIEND ART WORK
I stayed Iran from 2005 to 2009, and I was aware that Iran must be a kingdom of contemporary art; its history would tell me and might lead to the art kingdom.
I mesmerized a work of Artist Habib Tohidi in TeheranCcontemporary Art Museum, and was standing in front of it, after a short time his wife called me by coincidence, “ Do you like this? My husband work, he is outside.” And I met him, he became my friend.
It was dramatic event.

A BLACK FLOWER IN ASTEROID B612
Title: Black Flower in Asteroid B612
Painter Toshiaki Ruike based on the concept as “Fragile Art”
I have drawn flower, the symbol of Fragility in 2009.
This is a flower in the picture book “The Little Prince” written by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
The Prince left the flower alone in Asteroid B612.
Flower’s color of bright red started fading, the color turned black because nobody fed her water.
She, the flower deemed that she had nobody to water her.
She was dried up, broken into pieces.
She became a dust in the space.
She closed her eyes again.
She imagined that dried herself would become broken pieces only to return to the earth where the prince visited.
She was ready to die believing in an afterlife.

I have drawn FLOWER, the symbol of Fragility on the glass in Bathroom in 2009.
This my picture is a flower in the picture book “The Little Prince” written by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
The flower taken cared by the Little Prince in the story was left alone in Asteroid B612 without telling the prince set out for his journey. He left the flower alone though, he missed it a lot.
The flower must be a metaphor of author’s wife.
I contributed this flower to my daughter, and I plotted this flower would traveled all over the world, and the flower has grown bigger while encountering difficulties, finding friends and eventually awaked happiness.
(Scene of this work)
After The Little Prince had left, she, the flower learnt what a nice not to be bound by anyone and then realized a new feeling as following;
The prince had shaded the strong sunshine for me
But, I like enjoying in the sun
The prince had prevented me from the evening wind and protected me from the chill
But, I feel the evening wind so fresh after taking in the sun

Wake up TOKIO! Let’s go and play.
TOKIO, same age cousin of painter who passed away at five years old.
At that time, Painter Toshiaki who did not know the meaning of death, spoke to dead TOKIO as
“What are you doing?
Wake up!
Wake up!
Let’s go and play”
His talking induced tearing of watcher of TOKIO’s deathbed.
TOKIO is living forever in Painter who did not have a feeling of cousin’s death.
When painter was being stuck or doing mike, he said himself as
“I am something different from all the others,
I have to live not only for me but also for TOKIO”
He encouraged himself, and developed a zest for living.
TOKIO is something very special for him in that way.

Features of NPB, New Painting in Bathroom
Features of NPB are summarized as following five;
1. NPB’s Outcome is a kind of print, original drawing was on Wall / Pottery, was scanned into a high resolution camera and printed by ink-jet printer.
2. Drawing on wall must be erased as soon as possible, because color will absorb into tile joint with time, so there is no original drawing, that is why this art is “Fragile Art”
3. When watery color meets the ceramic wall or inclined pottery, it flows and painting full of movement is obtained; also wet color is fine, because water pulls out primary beauty of color, as you know color becomes fade when dried.
4. As the wall and pottery can be used many times, NPB is sustainable art like a chalk board in class room. There is no waist paper/canvas for artist’s active creative urge.
5. Painter is a kind of Bohemian who travels with least belongings; this becomes possible by method of NPB.

More about Concept Fragile Art and Birth of NPB
Concept
My tendency of art was something with a common concept hidden under Japanese feeling which I identified as a love and compassion for fragility of the universe. With this, I called my concept “Fragile Art”. It was defined as a Japanese common distinguished feature.
My symbol motif of art work based on fragile art is Chicken or Flower.
You easy understand flower is fragile; but you will question “why is chicken fragile?”
Because, chicken is a metaphor of fragility for me as the following:
When I was a child, I brought up baby chicks and cared for the chicks took in light bulb for heater at chill winter night, observed all day at beautifully grown chickens. After all, a cat killed them hideously.
I observed chickens in India these days, and felt spirit of creature to it. While I studied their species history; chicken is a creature raised for of human purpose by zoo-technology, that kind of animal is fragile to disease.
Birth of NPB
I was inspired by a geometrically-shaped white floor tile in India in 2004, because I felt a kinship between Japanese geometrically-shaped paper paneled door and Indian tiled floor. Then I focused my attention on square white tiled floors and walls.
Now I believe that all creations, even artist’s activities are fragile but beautiful, so I came into action of drawing painting on bathroom walls and painting was erasing fleetingly.
That action was easy in the bathroom.
So I called my work New Painting in Bathroom, NPB for short.
I have drawn in the motif of fragile creations.
